| 50 - Edible grases & N. weeds (I think). I think the caption may have been mixed up as a reference I've found says this is "An exhibition of maize and the chemical constituents of soil" where a slightly different photo is "A display of noxious weeds, edible grasses and wool". The writing along the top at left says: "...ure is the key that can turn Nature's hidden lock and release these Treasures for Mankind" (I presume the first word is "Agriculture") Over the door at the rear: "Grow more grass" (over the door at the rear) And on the right: "... soils are a repository of wealth, more valuable than Gems, more..." (I can't quite make out the first word; I think it's "Victorian"). |
